You may have seen this test circulating around the internet of late. It’s the Jung Typology Test: there are 70-some questions that you answer with a simple yes/no, and then *poof* there magically appears a detailed description of yourself appear on the screen! Your strengths, weaknesses, tendencies, talents, etc.
I’ve had my extended family (which is full of strong personalities) take it, and they were all spot on. Eerily so sometimes. I will say though, if you have a mild personality, you may struggle a bit more with seeing your reflection in the description the site provides.
Once you’ve seen the Jung description, then click over to The Personality Page, and look up your Portrait and Relationship profiles (scroll all the way down, and click on your letter title).
Me? I’m an ISFJ. And I married an ISFP. Jesse and I always knew that we were more alike than most married couples we interact with (unusually so), and this pretty much proved it- all official like. Ha! It seems that we are the exception to the “opposites attract” rule. 🙂
And if you don’t know me in real life, and want a little window into my world, here are some snippets from my portrait description that are startlingly accurate:
“ISFJs have a very clear idea of the way things should be, which they strive to attain. They value security and kindness. More so than other types, ISFJs are extremely aware of their own internal feelings, as well as other people’s feelings. The ISFJ feels a strong sense of responsibility and duty, and has a difficult time saying “no” when asked to do something, and may easily become over-burdened. ISFJs need positive feedback from others. In the absence of positive feedback, or in the face of criticism, the ISFJ gets discouraged, and may even become depressed. ISFJs have intense difficulty with conflict situations. Friends of the ISFJ will value them for their warmth, dependability, depth of emotional awareness and understanding.”
So here I am: an ISFJ, seeking other SFJs or IFs.
That’s who the test says are often an ISFJ’s kindred spirits. Of course any well-rounded mature personality type can get along well with any other, but it’s always so fun when you just so easily connect with someone who understands how you tick, because, well, that’s how they tick too!

I am an INFJ. A good friend of mine is really interested in the personality tests and what they mean and how we can use them to better build relationships, so she made me take multiple tests. Every single one is INFJ.
They are such a helpful tool in understanding and helping us relate to others (not to mention ourselves!), aren’t they? I love that.
Well, this doesn’t help, but I’m an ISTJ, which is an unusual personality type for a woman, or so I’m told.

How funny that you posted this, as I just took the test last night! I’m also an ISFJ and the description fits me to a tee. My husband on the other hand, is an INTJ, which is one of the rarest types. I guess we do fall into the opposite attract category 🙂
To verify the results, I also ended up taking the 16 Personalities Test (http://www.16personalities.com/), which is a little more involved, but I got the exact same results.

I took the test last month for one of my grad classes. The results were exactly the same as my test 6-8 years ago: ENFJ. 🙂

I’m a INFJ! I’ve taken that test numerous times and the results are always the same 🙂 I find it so interesting..it fits me to a tee so much that it’s kinda creepy 🙂
I know what you mean…it IS creepy to see so much of yourself “figured out” by someone who doesn’t know you. It’s comforting, in a way though. Assures me that I’m not some weirdo/freak of nature, you know? Ha! I’m so fascinated that many of the bloggers/blogs I love (including yours), are fellow FJs. So apparently, according to the test when I took it several years ago, I’m ENFJ. I don’t remember all the fine details of what that means, but at the very top of the descriptor page were the words, “The Giver.” Even though I pretty much always forget what they mean, I always have fun taking personality quizzes. 🙂

Hey Kristin, so guess who is also ISFJ?! Me! lol… when I saw this the other day I was like whoa, I’m pretty sure we are the same . We took the test back in August at work and so I had to go through my emails to make sure. I remember taking it twice because I wasn’t sure I agreed, BUT it does say that I have a “Slight Preference” of the first 3 letters, so it does make sense. I wish everyone I know would take this test, it’s fun.
I enjoy taking them too…and you’re right – knowing what someone else’s personality type is, really helps you understand them – and why they do the things they do, act the way they act, etc. Not surprised at all that you are an ISFJ! It seems we often think alike 🙂
I am an ESFJ! But my E and S were like 1%, so I’m pretty much right on the cusp for both of those 🙂 I really like the way those personality tests work, but sometimes I feel like I could be all of those types, just depending on the situation!

I love these personality tests! I think they do give great insight into the way people are and why they act & react to things the way they do. I’m an INFP, though my P/J scores are usually close, but I mostly land on more perceiving than judging.

It’s strange, but I have the hardest time taking those tests. Sometimes it feels like the questions don’t really have enough choices for the answers! 🙂 This test came up as INFJ for me. That was surprising. The introvert part I completely understand, but the rest.. not so sure. It seems that some things are true of me now but in the past… not so much. I know what you mean! They need a “maybe” or a “sometimes” answer for many of the questions, huh? I’m glad you thought it interesting…those of us with more mild personalities don’t come out quite as blatantly in the descriptions, but you bring up an interesting point: that some of the descriptions are true of you now that wouldn’t have been true of you in the past. I’m curious as to whether we actually change personalities through the years. I sure think I have. Totally different tendencies post marriage vs. pre marriage.- The whole topic just fascinates me so much…I could talk about it for hours! 🙂
I’m an INTJ. With exception of introvert, the rest I wasn’t sure fit me exactly….until I read the description. Wow. It got me exactly right…and opened up some insight into who I am. It’s nice to know that I’m not crazy for wanting people to make sense or that I’m always misunderstood…it’s just all part of my INTJ self 😉 Thanks for sharing this test Kristin!
